Attempting to maintain a sense of normalcy has been the flavour of the summer. With Covid at the forefront of every plan you make, it can be hard to feel the freedom and blissful sensations that the days of summer hold. To my amazement, I have been able to camp twice this year (so far). Both trips were set in the breathtaking wilderness of British Columbia. The itch to travel has yet to subside, and I suspect that may be the case for as long as I live. However, I am endlessly grateful to live in a place that is blessed with a bounty of natural wonders and delights at every step. I guess staying home ain’t so bad after all, eh?
Part I: Salt Spring Island, British Columbia

Salt Spring was a wonder (as usual). I am no stranger to the isle. Having first visited when I was 8(?), I have since been numerous times to indulge in the island’s treasures. Staying at Ruckle Provincial Park is an absolute MUST. What more could you need when you have the ocean at your feet, and towering pines swaying above your heads? I mean, I guess a good beer, or four.
The trip was filled with a stop at Salt Spring Wild Cider, the Salt Spring Winery, a dabble or two in the little village, and many a beverage around the flames of burning citronella candles. I soaked in the summer sun as it rose in the early morning, and took a walk to the bluffs, where I was joined by a doe happily munching on some foliage while I journaled away.
New friends and old, this short visit made the summer a little sweeter. Until next time, Salt Spring!
Part II: Whistler, British Columbia.

Whistler was, as always, a glorious step out of the city, and one of beauty into the welcoming arms of mother nature. The trip was simple and relaxing. Nothing too crazy, not too many plans, with just enough laziness to make me feel rejuvenated.
Moments away from the rushing river, surrounded by towering pines, cedars, and fir trees, the location was perfect. The company of good friends, the chorus of laughter, and the crackling of the fire filled the air and my heart with endless joy. I am constantly in awe by my life and everything in it these days.
Until next time, Whistler.
